AI safety education and community at UBC: a 7-week Intro to AI Alignment course built on the AI Safety Atlas, an ARENA-based ML Safety Accelerator, a bi-weekly technical paper reading group on interpretability, control, scalable oversight and evaluations, a weekly public AI policy reading group, and a student-run journal, the AI Policy Review. States it focuses on catastrophic risks from future AI systems because they are neglected relative to their scale.
